This must be the most asked question, especially around this time of year. How do I lose weight (I gained over Christmas) – fast!
The food part of the answer is (relatively) simple;
- Cut out sugar in all its forms
- Reduce your plate size
- Do not have seconds – ever!
- Do not eat carbs with the evening meal
- Drink pure water throughout the day
- Avoid alcohol, especially spirits
- Choose whole(non white) grains
- Choose natural unrefined oils and keep to a minimum
- Avoid fast and high fat foods
- Focus your food choices predominantly around fresh vegetables
Hmm? Give me a moment, I’m sure there are other things I should include…………….
The thing is; how many of the above are news to you? The chances are – none!
We all know how to lose weight but we don’t seem to find the power/self control/motivation to actually do it.
This is why slimming clubs do so well. They give us emotional support and we find our tribe; like minded beings who are facing the same challenges we are.
But what if, like me you don’t want to join a club and pay for something you don’t want or really need every week. I know what to eat, what not to eat and what I need to do lose weight. I am comfortable in my knowledge base around weight loss; I don’t need someone else telling me.
So what do I need?
Support.
A shoulder.
An ear?
I just need someone to chat too and inspire me, the way I do others. We all need that at times regardless of how much we know.
Some of the most nutritionally well informed people I know could do with losing a kilo or four (and would like too).
Weight loss is so much more than information gathering and acquisition. It is completely about being in the right place, emotionally and mentally. Being ready for it.
So, how do you (or I) lose weight fast? We get into a place where we really, really want to shed the pounds maybe with a little help from our friends and then we chose our route.
Mine?
Exercise (as ever!) and actually eating regularly (which I’m not doing); small meals, no chocolate or booze, lots and lots of veggies and low sugar fruit. Plus some good quality protein. Water, mainly hot for me. And nothing starchy after 6.
Works like a dream.
But when I can’t quite get to that place, I know I don’t need more slimming information; I need a ‘someone’ to listen, give me hug, or encourage me in a loving way.
So back to you. Before you start attempting to lose weight check what you ACTUALLY need. Information? A goal? A kick up the bum? Or a hug and encouragement?
Whatever it is, this will ensure your success in losing weight or anything else you want to achieve for that matter.
