Hot Banana Smoothie
Bananas are a great food as they contain large amounts of potassium, vitamin B6 and fibre. Ripening affects their nutritional impact; the older and browner they are and the sweeter they become. Basically the effect bananas have on the body, will depend on their age and ripeness. This may be offset somewhat by cinnamon as this is beneficial for blood sugar balance.
Choose some of the vegan milks (quinoa, hemp or almond) for change; especially if animal milks increase catarrh.
This smoothie can go into a flask to drink whilst on the run. It won’t spoil by going cold, in you can’t finish it in one go.
Prep time: 10 minutes maximum Ingredients for 1 x 350 ml
- 1 big banana
- 350 ml of milk of your choice (we used Hemp Milk)
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla essence
Method
- Put the milk, cinnamon and a small drop of vanilla essence into a pan and warm; do not boil.
- Blend with one banana. If it isn’t thick enough add another banana*
*Once blended bananas lose their colour.
